Make a Monetary Donation
Thanks to the generosity of people near and far, the North Carolina Disaster Relief Fund raised more than $16.8 million for Hurricane Helene relief efforts. Under the fiscal agency of United Way, more than 100 nonprofits on the ground in western North Carolina received grants to help address immediate needs in the months following Helene.
In December 2024, $15.5 million in donations to the North Carolina Disaster Fund merged with the North Carolina Community Foundation Disaster Relief Fund. The North Carolina Community Foundation, which serves the entire state, with a focus on rural North Carolina, will allocate funds to nonprofit community organizations in North Carolina to help with long-term recovery and unmet needs in western North Carolina.
